  11. LIBERO PLAYER Liberos must have all numbers they may wear in the match listed on the ROSTER. If a player is going to play the libero position for a certain game, they must be listed on the LINE UP SHEET. They may not be added to the lineup after the game begins. A player designated as the Libero for a game may NOT play as a non-libero player in that game.

  12. LIBERO MAY HAVE 2 JERSEYSwith TWO different numbers The libero may be listed with two uniform numbers with the first as the non-libero number and the second as the libero number. (15 / L4)

  13. LIBERO PLAYER LIBERO PLAYERS ARE AN OPTION FOR A TEAM TO USE. A COACH MAY DECIDE GAME BY GAME IF THEY WISH TO USE A LIBERO PLAYER. Both teams DO NOT have to use the libero. The match can be played with only one team utilizing the libero player.

  14. REVIEW OFLIBERO RULES • The libero may not complete an attack on a ball that is completely above the height of the net anywhere on the court. • The libero may not use overhead finger action while in front of or on the 10’ line if the next contact by a teammate is a completed attack of the ball while it is completely above the height of the net. • The libero may not block or attempt to block. • The coach can designate a different libero for each game noted on lineup sheet

  15. Libero MAY Serve In ONE rotation, the libero can replace the player in the service position and serve. If the libero is on the court the libero does not have to exit the court before replacing the player in the service position, but must go directly to the serving position NEED 7 volunteers! Show rotation from 5 to 4 and serve / show after serve to 6 problem…

  16. Libero MAY Serve The coach is not required to indicate on the lineup sheet the position where the libero will serve. At any point in the game, the coach can determine the position where the libero will serve by simply having the libero replace that server.

  17. LIBERO MAY SERVE Once the libero serves in a spot in the serving order in a game, that is the ONLY position where the libero is allowed to serve. However, the libero is not required to serve in that position for all subsequent rotations. The starting player, a legal substitute, or the libero can serve any rally that takes place whenever that position is in the service spot.

  18. Libero ServingScorer and Tracker Responsibilities The scorer must record on the scoresheet when the libero serves during each game. The Libero Tracker must record the position where the libero serves on the Libero Tracking Sheet as well.

  19. Directions for Scorer and Libero TrackerRecording Libero Serving – Running Score • The libero can serve in one rotation by replacing the player who is in the service position and who would serve the next ball. • When the libero serves, a triangle is placed around each point scored by the libero in the running score.

  21. Directions for Scorer and Libero TrackerRecording Libero Serving – Scoresheet • On the scoresheet the scorer shall place a triangle around the position within the serving order to identify where the libero can serve. • This assists the scorer to make sure the libero is not attempting to serve in two positions.

  25. DELAY OR ILLEGAL ALIGNMENT • An illegal replacement occurring before the whistle/signal for serve is an unnecessary delay. For example, a libero attempting to replace a player (who is not going to serve next) without sitting out a rally, a second libero entering the same game etc. • Once the referee whistles and signals for serve an illegal replacement is considered illegal alignment and a loss of rally/point is awarded to the opponent. • If the illegal replacement is not detected until contact of the serve the penalty is illegal alignment.
