  2. The Dominican Republic is Located… • The Dominican Republic is located in both the Northern and the Western Hemisphere. Its in the north-central Caribbean, on the island of Hispaniola and it is bordered by Haiti, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Caribbean Sea.

  3. All About the Spanish Rule • The Dominican Republic became a part of Spanish rule around 1492. • Three centuries later, the Dominican Republic gained their Independence in 1812.

  4. Visiting this Country • I would love to visit this country because it is so pretty. It has extraordinary views, and amazing tropical waters. • The Dominican Republic also has a lot of history behind it. Ranging from baseball, all the way to the historical background.

  5. Baseball • The national sport for the Dominican Republic is baseball. • Some major league baseball players in the Dominican Republic are, Fernando Abad, Juan Abreu, Tony Abreu, Al Alburquerque, and many more.

  6. The People • Just a little bit fewer than half of the people in the Dominicans live in rural areas; many of them are small landholders. • Haitians form the largest foreign minority group. • All religions are tolerated, but the state religion is Roman Catholicism.

  7. President Fernandez • The Dominican Republic’s current leading president is Leonel Fernandez. • He was re-elected this past election year and he was president the year before. • He won a slight majority of seats in the House of Representatives and 31 out of 32 Senate seats, as well as a plurality of mayoral seats.
