Rotary Club of Bangkok South On Social Media www.facebook.com/RotaryBangkokSouth www.twitter.com/rotarybkksouth www.flickr.com/photos/rotarybangkoksouth Rotary Club of Bangkok South uses three social media channels at the moment: Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. The purpose of using these channels is to promote our projects and fundraising activities and to keep in touch with our members, fellow Rotarians around the world, sponsors and our community.
Our Facebook page now has more than 1200 “Likes”, and is regularly updated by Rotarian Tim Cornwall and Rotarian Dean Outerson.
This is one example of how we interact with our sponsors, in this case the DusitThani hotel.
Our Twitter account is linked to our Facebook account so anything we post to Facebook will appear on our Twitter “Timeline”. Twitter has many uses, one of which is sharing up-to-the-moment news and live events. It could be quite useful during events like Coins on Silom.
Flickr is our photo-sharing site. We upload all of our photos to this site, tag them and make the project and fundraising photos publicly-accessible. All fellowship photos are NOT available for public viewing. Only members with a Flickr account (free accounts are available with a Gmail or Facebook account) can access these photos.
Anyone can create a free account with a Yahoo email, Gmail account or a Facebook account.
Once you have set up your Flickr account, click on “Contacts” and then “Find Your Friends”, then do a search for “rotarybangkoksouth”. “Add contact” and you will be able to access all of the Club’s photos.
Our Flickr account now contains over 17,769 photos and has been viewed 4,863 times (and counting!)
Photos on our account are divided into “Collections” such as “Friday Luncheons 2012-2013”, “Fellowship 2012-2013” etc.
Each “Collection” is then sub-divided into “Sets”, such as “Fridays in August 2012” etc.
If you open a “Set”, you can see thumbnails of all the photos in the Set (Don’t forget to scroll down). To view a specific photo, click on the thumbnail.
This will take you to the “Photo Page”. There are many options here, most of which can be accessed by clicking on “Actions”.
If you would like to download a particular photo, on the “Actions” menu, click on “View All Sizes”.
The “Photo/All Sizes” page gives you a number of size options. Click on the size that you want and then click “Download the ….. size of this photo”. Download should begin immediately and the photo will appear wherever you have your “Download” folder on your computer.
If you would like to take a tour of Flickr, go to: www.flickr.com/tour(you don’t need to have an account)
