North Refineries Company (NRC) North Refineries Company was established in 1982 and it is the largest refining company among the Iraqi Ministry of Oil companies with design capacity of 402000 BPSD. NRC employed over 8,873 employees. The company produces over 35 different type of product such as unleaded premium gasoline, illuminating kerosene, ATK, diesel, lube oil product, spindle oil, transformer oil, Asphalt, sulfur, LPG, RT … etc.

  5. North Refineries Company consist of the following refineries and facilities; 1- 310,000 BPSD Baiji Refining Capacity. A- Salahuddin (1) Refinery with 70000 BPSD Refining Capacity. B-North Refinery with 150000 BPSD Refining Capacity With 20000 BPSD small Two Units. C- Salahuddin (2) Refinery with 70000 BPSD Refining Capacity. 2- New Isomerization Unit / 20,000 BPSD, in operation since July, 2011. 3- Lube Plant (two trains): 125000 Ton of different lube stocks per train. 4- Packaging and Loading Arms facilities.

  6. 5. Exterior Refineries: A. Kirkuk Refinery with 30,000 BPSD Refining Capacity. B. Siynia Refinery with 30,000 BPSD Refining Capacity. Two units in operation and one unit under construction. C. Kisik Refinery with 20,000 BPSD Refining Capacity. One unit in operation and second under construction. D. Qaiyarah Refinery with 34,000 BPSD Refining Capacity. Needs to extend Crude Pipe line from the Strategic Line about 60 Km. E. Hadithah Refinery with 16,000 BPSD Refining Capacity. F. Aljazirah Refinery with 20,000 BPSD P28 Refining Capacity. Planned to be re-engineering and reinstalling inside NRC. 6. Future Projects: i. New Kirkuk Refinery with capacity of 150,000 BPSD. ii. New FCC unit with capacity of 55,000 BPSD.

  7. 1- Salahuddin Refinery 1 Process Units and Summery • 1982 was the year of operation. • EPC has been done by Technoexport. • The refinery operate 90% of its design capacity. • 2000 M3/Day of black oil is being injected back to the crude oil. • Because of the long operation life, sanctions, and wars most of the units need rehabilitation.

North Refinery Summery; • 1983 was the year of operation. • EPC has been done by CHIYODA. • The refinery operate 85% of its design capacity. • 25,000 M3/Month of Naphtha is being injected back with the crude oil. • Because of the long operation life, sanctions, vandalism, and wars most of the units need rehabilitation.

North Refinery in respect of implementing FCC (Fluid Catalytic Cracking) unit 55,000 BPSD of capacity for conversion fuel oil to light products especially of fuel oil up to 30% of the total production volume. Feasibility Study has been done by JICA. FEED and Licensor Selection will be done by JICA too. • Six new boilers- 400 Ton/Hr Capacity, under Construction, Two of them will be to start up Jun 2012. • New power generation plant/ 85 MW, contracted and site preparation. plan to be completed April 2013 • Reconstruction of 54 Storage Tanks. 90% has been done & will be completbefor July 2012 • New LPG Unit/ 400 Ton/day. Contracted will be start up Nov.2013. • Upgrading of Waste Water Treatment System. • New R.O. unit in Operation since 1/1/2010. NRC has a number of projects which will contribute to the development of the North Refineries Company as follow:-

  16. Upgrading Existing Hydrogen production with KTI (TKT)company. • New Can production line. Contracted with a Germany Company. • Sulphur-Pelletisation unit. Received at site and under installing. • Upgrading North Refinery’s Control System by Honeywell with DCS system. • De-bottlenecking and Improving the performance of North Refinery, by Choyoda & UOP. SAL. 1 Refinery & SAL. 2 Refinery, under discussion with Chemo project.

Future Major Refineries in Iraq • New Kirkuk Refinery in Kirkuk City ( North of Iraq) 150,000 BPSD Refining Capacity FEED will be over by jun2012 • Maissan Refinery in Maissan City ( South of Iraq)150,000 BPSD Refining Capacity. • Karbala Refinery in Karbala City ( South of Iraq) 200,000 BPSD Refining Capacity. Has been awarded to Italian company for investment. • Nasiriya Refinery in Nasiriya City ( South of Iraq) 300,000 BPSD Refining Capacity.

  18. New Kirkuk Refinery Process Unit’s Licensors for New Kirkuk Refinery Capacity of 150,000 BPSD Achieved about 97 % FEED by Shaw Energy and Chemicals Limited/ UK

NRC’s Aims • Our primary goal is to:- • Optimizing production Quantity • Improving products quality. • Improving efficiency. • a- Replacing North Refinery’s Control System with DCS system. • b- Upgrading Sal. 1, Sal. 2, and N.R. refinery. • c- Replacing old pumps and compressor with new ones. • d- Replacing old Furnace's tubs with new ones. •   e- Replacing old North Refinery’s boilers with new ones. • Enhancing safety and security. • Reducing downtime. • Be green with the environment. • Rehabilitation North Refinery’s Waste Water Treatments to improve water quality that is been discharged to the river. • Thank you for your attention
