  1. Use of Portable, Soil-filled Wood Frames and Pre-Cast Track Positives in Teaching Animal Track ID Featuring Bobcat Track Patterns and Tracks John Jose 9-11-10

  2. 5ft X 8in soil-filled wood frame

  3. Setting “straddle” (width of track pattern) with pre-measured spacer

  4. Adding stride (distance between tracks) w/ pre-measured stride spacer and using plaster casts of paw prints to create track pattern.

  5. Final product: Details of overall track pattern, including stride, straddle and individual track details. Within a comfortable, controlled, indoor setting, without the distractions of potentially severe winter weather, this activity pro-vides a great, hands-on, visual warm-up exercise in basic concepts in tracking, while introducing participants to tracks and patterns of animals expected to be encountered locally.
