Blasphemy! • 5, your sins are forgiven • 6-7, understood claims: “Blasphemy” (Mk.14:62-64; Jn.10:30, 33) “Spec. of those who by contemptuous speech intentionally come short of the reverence due to God or to sacred things”(Th. 102)
“Since Jesus claims for his words and actions messianic authority, and at the same time assumes rights and powers (e.g. to forgive sins, Lk.5:21), which in the view of the religious Jews and scribes belong to God alone, he is regarded in these circles as a blasphemer”(DNTT III 342)
