What does IEP stand for? • The letters IEP stand for Individualized Education Plan. • A legal document developed by a team of people including parents, students, teachers, counselors, nurses, administrators, special educators, and others • Provides a plan with goals and services to help students with disabilities reach their potential in school • Is reviewed and implemented yearly • Formal evaluations are done every 3 years to determine eligibility for special education services
How often are the meetings? • The data and documents are reviewed yearly • Changes can be made at any time • Formal evaluations are done every 3 years to determine eligibility for special education services
Your disability • SLD, Autism, ED, ID, OHI, HI, SLI, OI, TBI, SLI, VI • Primary disability, Secondary disability
Other Health Impaired • Is due to chronic or acute health problems such as asthma, attention deficit disorder or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, diabetes, epilepsy, a heart condition, hemophilia, lead poisoning, leukemia, nephritis (kidney disorder), rheumatic fever (inflamitory disease that follows an infection), sickle cell anemia (blood disorder), muscular dystraphy(deterioration of muscle tissues), and Tourette syndrome; and • (ii) Adversely affects a child’s educational performance.
