Some Basic Facts • Canadian population is approximately 30 million • over the past decade, annual admissions of immigrants and refugees has been approximately 220,000 (refugees: approx 35,000) • approximately 20 million people of concern to the UNHCR (compare with Tuesday’s stats) • Canada admits roughly 2x as many economic category migrants as family category migrants
