  2. Essential Question • How can you represent a 3-dimensional object on 2-dimensional media? • GPS: ENGR-IED-10. Students will create and dimension single view drawings while applying geometric construction. • a. Produce geometric shapes such as straight lines, geometric angles, plane figures, circles and arcs, and irregular geometric figures. • b. Apply geometric construction techniques to problems. • c. Draw problems that show construction procedure. • e. Apply the symmetrical features of a center line to its proper size and location.

  3. Orthographic projection • A means of representing a three-dimensional object in two dimensions. It is a form of parallel projection, where all the projection lines are orthogonal to the projection plane, resulting in every plane of the scene appearing in affine transformation on the viewing surface. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthographic_projection

  4. Orthographic Sketching • This is a great webpage from the University of Texas. • Manual engineering sketching is a quick and easy way to express ideas graphically. It is a natural psychomotor process of ideation in which design ideas are generated in one's mind and expressed through freehand sketches for others to see. It requires only simple tools, a pencil and piece of paper, and can be accomplished anywhere and anytime. Engineering sketching is at the heart of the ideation loop of imagining, sketching and seeing: • http://www.me.utexas.edu/~rbarr/sketching/manual.html#menu
