  1. Sectional bungalow, LincolnshireThis is an excellent examples of a wooden prefabricated building which would have been bought in sectional form from a company such as Boulton and Paul, or from a local joiner and erected on site.

  2. Bohemia, Sutton-on-Sea. This postcard shows a group of corrugated iron chalets for holiday makers of the 1920’s. These prefabricated ‘huts’ had wooden floors, a living room and bedroom and electric lighting.

  3. Sectional wooden bungalow (Boulton and Paul), Gosberton, Lincolnshire. This bungalow was constructed at the turn of the 20th century by the Noble family whose forge and carriage works was situated on the same lane. This building is currently scheduled for demolition.

  4. Tarran prefab. These prefabricated buildings were constructed originally as part of the 1944 Temporary Housing Scheme. Very few remain in occupation in the East Midlands.

  5. The ‘Reservoir’, Surfleet, Lincolnshire. This community of holiday chalets and bungalows grew up around this popular bathing and boating spot during the 1920’s. It is a good example of the colonisation of such locations and the use of prefabricated buildings

  6. Church of St Mary, Sawley, Nottinghamshire This is a good example of a tin tabernacle. These churches could be purchased in kit form and are made from corrugated iron.

  7. Corrugated iron house, West Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire. This is a good examples of the type of corrugated iron sectional buildings that could be bought from companies such as Boulton and Paul, or from local companies. It is currently scheduled for demolition.
