California MPOs and RTPAs Regional Transportation Planning Agencies:18 18 MPOs • FTA 5303 funds $14 million in FY 2008/09 • California (PL) funds $42 million per year 41 State-designated Regional Transportation Planning Agencies • 26 receive State Rural Planning Assistance (RPA) funds • $4-6 million per year

California Regional Blueprint Planning Program A State initiative to promote: • Linking land use, transportation, housing, environment, economic development, equity • Consensus on preferred growth scenario - “Blueprint” - for each region identifies transportation impacts of land use • A more efficient and effective transportation system • Sufficient housing supply to accommodate population growth in each region
