E N D
BummulaChinnari This little girl, Bummula Chinnari, is 8 years old and she has been living at the home for 4 years now. Chinnari came from one of the outlying villages where her family are very poor. Her mother is an agricultural labourer whose main job is to channel water into rice fields. Her father died of a heart attack when she was four. Her sister, who is 11, is also at the Home. Chinnari is in the English medium class as she is proving to be an able pupil, keen and hardworking in class. She works quietly and needs to be encouraged to give an answer but when she does, it is always correct. Although quiet in class, she is very sociable with her friends and enjoys singing and dancing. She also really likes reading and listening to exciting stories. She is seizing the chance to acquire an education and escape the poverty trap. One day she hopes to become a teacher.
