  3. 4.1B Ratios • Ratios compare 2 quantities by using division. These quantities should have something in COMMON! • Four ways : 2 to 62:62 out of 62/6 • Fractions MUST be in Simplest Form!!!

  4. Ratios in Quantities Write the ratio of yellow pens to green pens. There are 3 yellow & 4 green… The RATIO is 3 to 4, 3 out of 4, 3:4 or 3/4 NOTICE…what you read first GOES first!!!

  5. Ratios in a Group What is the ratio of grey paper clips? Since 2 out of 4 are grey… 1 2 2 4 The RATIO is 1 to 2, 1:2 or 1 out of 2 !!!

  6. Ratios in Tables 1st count up the TOTAL so you have a denominator Find the ratio of fruit as the favorite! Since 3 out of 21 like fruit… 1 7 3 21 The RATIO is 1 to 7, 1:7 or 1 out of 7 !!!

  7. Ratios in Tables Find the ratio of peppermint to fruit? Peppermint is 1st so keep that number in front! 9 3 3 1 The RATIO is 3 to 1, 3:1 or 3 out of 1 !!!
