Occupation • Dr. Paul Ehrlich is an American author. • He has been a researcher and biologist at Standford University, and he is currently is a professor there. • He researches environmental issues that relate to the global population growth, which was the topic for the book that led to his fame. • Dr. Ehrlich is also the president and founder of the Zero Population Growth organization.
Contribution to Environmental Science • Dr. Ehrlich’s best-selling book, The Population Bomb, was published in 1968. It greatly raised public and government awareness of the environmental impacts of the rising population. • Dr. Ehrlich and his wife are strong environmental advocates that promote habitat preservation, conservation, and biodiversity. • Ehrlich’s organization, Zero Growth Population, is dedicated to controlling population growth and protecting Earth’s natural resources. • He has written over five hundred books and articles about how the Earth’s rapid population growth is affecting natural resources and the environment.
