LIBERTY INTERMEDIATE MISSION STATEMENT • Educate: Through rigorous academic curriculum, staff equips students with a well-rounded education prepares them for the next level. • Provide a Safe Learning Environment: Provide a save learning environment where everyone is treated with compassion and respect. • Inspire/Innovate: Students are challenged to learn about their world through innovative and rewarding experiences. • Collaborate: Work in a collaborative atmosphere where staff, families, and students support one another.
MIDDLE SCHOOL CONCEPT (Fifth Grade) • Fifth grade consists of two teacher teams • Students switch for science/social studies • Some students will switch for math and reading instruction
MIDDLE SCHOOL CONCEPT (Sixth Grade) • Sixth grade consists of two four teacher teams and one two teacher team. • Transformers – two teacher team • Eagles and USA – four teacher team

GETTING ORGANIZED • Student planner should be completed daily • Parents should check and sign student planner daily • Quiet study area at home away from distractions (TV) • Use timer to include appropriate breaks

HOMEWORK HELP • Young Scholars Club: Meets Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3:00 – 4:15 • Parent/Teacher Communication: Amount of time spent on homework should not exceed 50 minutes for fifth graders and 60 minutes for sixth graders.

FIFTH GRADE INTRAMURALS • Wrestling -5th graders now can be on the wrestling team (December-March) • Basketball Intramurals (March-April) 1 day a week for 5 weeks Open to all boys and girls. Volleyball Intramurals (April-May)
CAMP TECUMSEH • YMCA Camp in Brookston, IN • Winter Survival • Pioneering • Nature Art • Many team building activities • Three days/ two nights
PARENT VOLUNTEERS • Sign up at Open House • September 19, 2013, 6:30 – 8:00 • Sign up sheet will be located in your child’s homeroom
BUILDING PROCEDURES • Student Arrive: no earlier than 7:30 A.M.; tardy bell rings at 7:45 A.M. • Departure: 2:45 P.M. • Dress Code • Lunch • Visiting the School: Driver’s License required • Attendance
