History • Founded in 1760 • In the center of town is an oak tree that was recorded in General William Lane's diary during the American Revolutionary War. On its eastern side is engraved the letters “WL” • On December 13, 1776, General Charles Lee was captured by the British in his room in town. Lee had ranked next to Washington in command.
Sites of Interest • Headquarters of Verizon Wireless, Barnes and Noble and Avaya are located within the area • The Devil's Tree, a local legend, documented in Weird NJmagazine as well in the book is said that it is cursed by the Devil.
