Inertia: An object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by another object or force. Name and describe 2 things keep planets orbiting the sun. Gravity- The sun has big enough mass to pull on the mass of each planet to keep them travelling around the sun.
How do scientists think the solar system formed? Sun formation- Explosion of a supernova. Gases & such began rotating, contacted and then condensed; then hydrogen fusion started.
Other revolving bodies (planets)- left over material from supernova, contracted and formed bodies that began to revolve around the sun.
Solar Nebula A disc-shaped gaseous cloud with rings from which, in the nebular hypothesis of the origin of the solar system, the Sun and planets formed by condensation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCZc92vs80Y
