OSHA §29 CFR Part 1926Cranes & Derricks In Construction Effective Date: November 8, 2010 • Definitions • Qualified Rigger • a “Qualified Rigger” is a rigger who meets the criteria for a “Qualified Person” • Qualified Person • means a person who, by possession of a recognized degree, certificate, or professional standing, or who by extensive knowledge, training and experience, successfully demonstrated the ability to solve/resolve problems relating to the subject matter, the work, or the project. OSHA 1926.1401

OSHA §29 CFR Part 1926Cranes & Derricks In Construction Effective Date: November 8, 2010 • How To Document a Qualified Persons ability to solve/resolve work related problems (i.e. rigging, etc.) • Academic • Degree (engineering, etc.) • Journey Level Certification (DOE Approved Apprentice Program) • National Certification (NCCER, NCCCO, CIC, etc.) • Certificate of Training from a National Training Organization (NACB, CICB, CIA, etc.) • Proof of Professional Standing OSHA 1926.1401

OSHA §29 CFR Part 1926Cranes & Derricks In Construction Effective Date: November 8, 2010 • 1419 States that a signal person must be provided in each of the following situations: • The point of operation, meaning the load travel or the area near or at load placement, is not in full view of the operator. • When the equipment is traveling, the view in the direction of travel is obstructed. • Due to site specific safety concerns, either the operator or the person handling the load determines that it is necessary. OSHA 1926.1419

OSHA §29 CFR Part 1926Cranes & Derricks In Construction Effective Date: November 10, 2014 • Effective 11/10/2014 The following applies; • Pre-Qualification/Certification Training Period (1926.1427 (f)) • All Operators Not Certified May Only Operate As An Operator-in-training (OIT). • Must Be Provided Sufficient Training • Tasks Performed During Training Within Trainees Capability • Trainer • Employee or Agent • Certified Operator, or • Passed Written • Familiar with Controls • No Distractions OSHA 1926.1427
