Coca-Cola Scholarship The application is now open. Merit based scholarship. Applicants should have strong leadership skills, GPA 3.0, extracurricular activities, including community service. Scholarships range from $10,000 to $20,000. • Applicants must apply online at www.coca-colascholars.org
BigSun Scholarship • All student athletes are eligible for this award • Must be a senior attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in a sport at that institution or community • www.bigsunathletics.com for more info • Deadline: June 22, 2012 • Amount of Award: $500
NASSP/Herff Jones Principal’s Leadership Aware Scholarship Program • Ranging from $1000-$12,000 will be awarded 100 seniors from 50 states • Winners are selected by leadership skills, academic record, volunteer work, etc.

Davidson College (John Montgomery Belk Scholarship) • The Belk Scholarship recognizes and awards students of demonstrated superior intellectual and personal achievement and significant leadership. • If interested see Ms. Venega in Guidance.
Davidson College (John Montgomery Belk Scholarship) • Up to 8 scholars will be chosen in Davidson’s Class of 2016, each receiving an annually renewable scholarship equal to the college’s fees (valued in 2011-12 at $49,723.) • Deadline for prescreen application is Nov. 4, 2011.
Selective Service • If you are a man ages 18-25 and living in the US, then you must register with Selective Service. According to law a man must register with Selective Service within 30 days of his 18th birthday. • Register at any Post Office or online at http://ww.ss.gov

ROTC • All former ROTC cadets who have not returned your uniforms and is no longer in ROTC during this semester will be charged for the cost of uniforms. To prevent being charged return your uniform no later than Wednesday, November 9, 2011.

Bowling Tryouts • Bowling tryouts will be held on Wed. Nov 9. You MUST have proof of a physical to attend. • Students will meet in the main gym immediately after school. Transportation to and from the bowling alley will be provided. Have parents pick you up between 5:30-6:30 @ school. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Nancy Hunt
PSHS Swim Team! • It is not too late! Any male or female interested in joining the PSHS Swim Team this year. Please see Ms. Waite in the chorus room.
Softball • There will be a mandatory meeting Wednesday, November 9th, immediately after school (3:10 pm) in MOBILE 7 for all girls interested in playing softball this year. The meeting should not last more than 30 min.

Seniors interested in taking the compass test for any Community College in the state of NC need to sign up in the guidance office. The first 23 students will be tested on February 7, 2012 @ 8:30am. Transportation will be provided to RCC. For additional information, see Ms. Venega in guidance.
