  2. Jim Handy, a boy who lived in Vermont was once diagnosed with cancer when he was just 9 years old. I guess nobody on Earth wants to give up living by choice but are helpless if fate decides it. After the retirement of “Tinoi” Martinez, a New York Yankees baseball player, Don Mattingly became the full-time Yankee first baseman in 1984. Jim was diagnosed with cancer in 1988 and at that time he was just nine years old and had less than 50% expectation, that he would live. So, Jim wanted to meet Mattingly as his last wish before his life ended. The “Make a wish” foundation helped him to meet Mattingly. Continuous research has helped us to know about inner workings of the disease and along the last 30 years, we are now able to treat those diseases with better medicines and therapies. Advancement in the field of medicine has now created a hope for the people who were a prey to this terrible disease called cancer. Life and the advanced medical field have helped Jim to fight his cancer and live a life everyone wishes for. Jim survived and now he is married. He was blessed with children and named his elder daughter as “Mattingly”. He is going to meet his hero Mattingly again after 30 years. It will be a surprise for the sportsman to meet his old fan who was about to die thirty years before and wished a meeting with Mattingly as his ultimate desire. Willpower and hope helped Jim to fight cancer who was expected to die not long after his initial meeting with Mattingly, but it shows that hope must never be lost because there is always a chance to survive.
