Exercises • To proceed to the Exercises, please download the whole working folder (authorware-basics) from either the • educ4210-1 or • educ4210-2 or • educ4210-3, • at the FTP site, res.hkbu.edu.hk • Place the “authorware-basics folder on your desktop
Exercise 1 • Click File > New > File • Close other windows and leave the design window and icon panel intact.
Exercise 1 • Drag the desired icons from the icon panel onto the empty flowline in the Design Window as shown.
Exercise 1 • Add names to the appropriate icons. • Save the file as exercise1.a6p in the c:\windows\desktop\authorware-tutorial\
Exercise 1 • Double-click on the background icon and the presentation window will be popped-up. • Choose File > Import to select the “Background.gif” image file from c:\windows\desktop\authorware-tutorial\Assets\ folder.
Exercise 1 • Double-click the “Title” icon and choose File > Import to select the “Camera1.gif” image file from c:\windows\desktop\authorware-tutorial\Assets\ folder.
Exercise 1 • To eliminate the background colour of the image, double-click it. • On the property window, choose the “alpha” mode and click “OK”.
Exercise 1 • Double-click the “Title”To insert the words “The World of 35mm Photography”, click the “A” icon of the graphic panel and type in the required wording.
Exercise 1 • Double-click the “Camera Sound” icon on the flowline and then the “Import” button on the property window. • Choose the camera.mp3 audio file from the Assets folder as specified in the previous sections.
Exercise 1 • Double-click the “WAIT” icon on the flowline and then the “Import” button on the property window. • Choose the camera.mp3 file from the Assets folder as specified in the previous sections.
Exercise 1 • To erase the title page, double-lick the “Title” icon on the flowline. • Then double-click the “Erase Title Page” icon on the flowline and then click the “Erase” button on the property window.
Exercise 1 • On the property window, choose the Transition Mode to be “Mosaic”.
Exercise 1 • On Click the “Icons” button on the property window and then click the “Title” page shown on the presentation window. • The Title page icon will be listed on the property window of the erase icon.
Exercise 1 • Click File > Save to save the file. • To see how the file works, click Control > Restart. • To publish the file, click File > Publish Settings and on the property window, click the “format” button and check all the options. • Click the “package” button and select all the options again.
After the selection, click “Publish” Exercise 1
Exercise 1 • A folder named: “Published Files” will be created at the same level as the exercise1.a6p file. Within this folder, there are two sub-folders: Local and Web.
Exercise 1 • Under the “Local” folder, there is a ????.exe file. • Inside the “Web” folder, there are files like: ????.htm and ????.aam. • You may FTP the whole “Web” folder to your own folder residing res.hkbu.edu.hk • To access it via the Internet, open the browser and type the URL as http://res.hkbu.edu.hk/educ4210-?/your_folder/web/????.htm
