  3. The Rules to Solving Inequalities • When do you flip the inequality sign? • Why does it have to be flipped? • When graphing the inequality on a number line, when will the circle be open? Closed?

  4. Ex 2: Solve, graph and check. • 3x – 12 < 3 • 6 + 5(2 – x) ≤ 41 When checking your solution you must check the boundary point (where the circle is) and another point in the shaded region.

  5. Ex 3: What to do… • Graph 2 < X.

  6. Ex 4: What the heck just happened? • Solve 2x – 3 > 2(x – 5) • Solve 4(x – 3) + 7 ≥ 4x + 1

  7. Ex 5: Revenue • A mariachi band agrees to play at your birthday party for $200 plus 25% of the ticket sales. (Yes, you are a very popular guy/girl). How much in ticket sales will be needed for the band to receive at least $500?
