Vancouver’s geography • Vancouver is located in the British Columbia province of Canada • Vancouver is British Columbia’s largest city as well as Canada’s third largest • The estimated population of Vancouver in 2004 was 583,296 • The city of Vancouver covers an area of 114.67 sq. km. • Vancouver’s climate is moderate

The city of Vancouver • Is surrounded by three bodies of water the Fraser river to south, the pacific to the west and the Burrard Inlet to the south • It is 26 km from the U.S. border • it is one of the west coast’s busiest ports • And because of its mild climate it is one of few cities where you can ski, swim and play golf all in the same day

Whistler Ski Resort • Whistler is located just north of Vancouver in the Coast Mountain Ranges • Whistler is the Host Mountain Resort of the Olympic games • Whistler is the largest ski resort in North America with 8,171 acres and over 200 trails • Whistler’s population is about 10,000 but gets about 2 million annual visitors
