Cuba • The United States intervened in the politics of Cuba during the age of imperialism because of the USS Maine that was exploded and sink quickly. • The United States took partial control of the government because Cubans sought to wrest more self-government. Thomas Jefferson visualize Cuba as an American possession. • Cuba gained its independence on May 20, 1902.  • The United States was Justified in intervening in this country because the United States had businesses down there and they wanted to protect that.
