  2. CBI • Overview • CBI should align with the student’s priority educational need as indicated by… • Alternate Assessment • Standardized Assessment (ex: WJ-III) • Transition Assessment • CBA • Teacher made assessment

  3. Then ask the question… • Is this a skill that can be maintained by providing families with suggestions on how to implement this in the community? • i.e. Are they going to use it?

  4. Deciding on sites • Align needs with community sites where you will be able to practice the skills (generalization) • Choose sites that families might frequently visit • Visit a variety of sites to maximize community experiences • Keep in mind employability where applicable

CBI Transportation Guidelines • No travel on Wed • A minimum of 12 calendar days lead time (which begins the date the form is submitted) • CBI must fall within a 9:45-1:30 time frame • Lesson Plan must be submitted for each CBI along with the Transportation request form • CBIs should be limited to 20 per class per year • (Scheduled according to the needs of your students and consistent with your curriculum).

CBI Guidelines (Cont’d) • ACCESS POINTS for Academic Areas must be addressed, supported by Benchmarks for Special Diploma in Non-Academic areas such as Social Skills. • (general rule of thumb is one ACCESS POINT and one Benchmark) • CBI should focus on Academic skills as related to curriculum and must support increased independence in the community and workplace. • CBI should follow a “natural proportion” as outlined by the state • Do not fax the form to the Transportation department. • All trips must be approved by Bonnie Segal 407- 317-3266 (fax) in (Transition Services) and then it will be submitted to transportation. • You may change the location/time if necessary within 72 hours, but must be submitted on the CBI change form. No emails/calls will be excepted

CBI Guidelines (Cont’d) • All changes must be submitted 48 hours before the site visit • All stops must be listed on the approved CBI Transportation worksheet, no additions/changes the day of the trip. • Last minute cancellations should be emailed to TRANSP-TRIPS@ocps.net. Do not leave a voice message/email for the Transition Team or Transportation Department
