  3. The market • 1.6% increase in 2014 despite lightweighting • Growing packaging market, switching and Friends of Glass • Talking to consumers about glass • Preference up 13% points from 2008

Taste Maker Campaign • When: Thursday, 28 May (18:00-22:00) • Format: First Taste Map event in Europe to support campaign launch; mix of cooking & panel discussion event with support from third parties (e.g. Prof Calabrese) – allowing for interactive consumer tasting elements – all will combine to drive core influencer engagement and a hands on experience at EXPO. Live tweet and event updates plus post event recaps • Audience: Key influential bloggers and press across the top 5 markets will be invited to the event (central & local teams work to coordinate a Friends of Glass press trip to EXPO) • Where: Show kitchen area at EXPO

Regulatoryoverview • Emission Trading Scheme (CO2) & Low carbon economy • Energy taxation / State Aid Guidelines • Food contact materials • Product Environmental Footprinting - Life Cycle Analysis – Carbon labelling • IED directive and Glass BREF revision (published March 2012) • End-of-Waste criteria (published December 2012) • REACH (status of raw materials) • Waste Framework Directive and Landfill Directive (revision 2014) • NEPSI reporting & crystalline silica • ISO standards: packaging and the environment (finalised but new work items proposed – Translate to CEN) • Sustainable Consumption and Production (Resource-efficiency, eco-design of furnaces, etc) • Circular Economy: Packaging and packaging waste Directive (revision 2015) • US legislation on toxics in packaging • …

  7. In Conclusion …. • Tough environment need to « pump up the volume »  about our model and making the circular economy real • Work closely with GPI – many common issues • Major success through Friends of Glass, your support welcome to bring this to global scale
