Exposition (basic situation) Explains, gives information about the main characters and their problems
Conflict A problem or struggle

External Conflict Character struggles against an outside force * another character * nature * society
Rising Action Complications that build suspense
Climax The most intense moment in the plot Turning Point
Resolution The problems in the story are resolved
Setting Time and place of a story
Narrator • The person who tells a story
Point of View Vantage point from which an author tells a story
Omniscient POV The narrator can tell readers what all the characters are thinking and feeling
Third Person Limited POV The narrator is not a character in the story, but he zooms in on ONE character’s thoughts and feelings
