Project Linus An Act Local Project By: Lily du Fief
Project Linus • The project has been going since 1998. • Almost 5 million blankets have been made and delivered since then.
Project Linus • Who gets blankets and why do they get them? • Children who are sick (usually in the hospital) or have had something bad happen to them (like house burned down) • Kids need to have something to call their own. Just like Linus in Peanuts every kid needs a blanket which is perfect symbol of love, warmth and compassion.
Project Linus • What did I do? • I made blankets!
Project Linus • After I made the blankets, they got dropped off at the Project Linuscollection center. • Why didn’t I deliver them to sick kids? • Each blanket has to be inspected • Make sure it is clean. This is really important for sick kids in the hospital. • Make sure it doesn’t have any pins or needles.
Project Linus • How did I get started helping Project Linus? • Last year, I went to a quilt show with my mom and grandmother, Gram B. • At the quilt show, I won a sewing machine! • Gram B and I made a quilt.
Project Linus • This year, I made 4 blankets.
Project Linus • Here are the blankets getting dropped off at the collection point.
Project Linus • Here are other bags of blankets other people had dropped off.
Project Linus • Project Linushappens all year long. I am working on another quilt. • It takes a long time to make a quilt.
