Where Did They Live? • The tribe historically lived along the outlying of the Missouri River, Platte Loup and the Republican Rivers(which is present-day Nebraska and in Northern Kansas). • They were one of the dominate tribes on the Great Plains
What Did They Do? • They stole horses • Adapted their culture • Expanded buffalo hunting seasons • They grew maize, beans, pumpkins, and squash • They practiced child sacrifice
What Did They Wear? • The women made their clothing from buffalo hides and deer skin • Boys wore nothing until the age of 10, then they began wearing breech clouts (deer skin wore between the legs fastened together by a leather belt)
What Weapons and Tools Did They Use? • Ropes and shields were made out of hide • Sinew or muscle was used to make bowstrings • Bones were used to make hoes and runners for dog sleds • Horns were made into spoons, cups, and bowls
