System Malfunctions A mini PowerPoint explaining about two general diseases that could affect the Circulatory Systemby Mariamawit Gashaw
What is the Circulatory System? • The circulatory system is the system of circulation. Two major organs in the circulatory system are the heart and the lungs. Blood vessels and cells are also in the circulatory system. The circulatory system is an important system and if it ever has a malfunction the life of the person is in danger.
What two diseases could affect the circulatory system? • One disease that could affect the circulatory system is lung disease. If the lungs get infected it would be harder for the circulatory system to function. • Another disease that could affect the circulatory system is heart disease. If the heart ever gets infected it would also be harder for the circulatory system to function.
What is Heart disease and Lung disease? • Lung disease and heart disease are disorders that prevent or make it harder for these important organs to do their jobs. The lungs give oxygen to blood cells while the heart pumps blood throughout the body. Lung and heart diseases can cause death, serious illnesses and complications for the organs. Right now, millions of Americans are affected by either lung or heart diseases.
Lung Disease • Lung disease is a disorder causing the lungs to not function in the correct way the should. • Lung disease can come in many forms. • Lung disease affects many people especially smokers. Lung disease can also affect non-smokers. The reason it affects smokers is because the carbon monoxide from the cigarette or cigar gradually poisons the body and the organs. That causes diseases in many organs including the lung. • Lung disease can cause death or complications with the respiratory and circulatory system. The infection might gradually slow down the breathing of the lung making it harder for the blood cells receive the oxygen.
Lung Disease (cont.) • List of common lung diseases: -Asthma; when body’s airways become narrower -Lung cancer; cancer of the lungs -Pneumonia; inflammation of the lungs -Influenza (flu); contagious lung disease caused by virus -Bronchitis; inflammation of bronchial tubes and lung -Emphysema; limited flow of air when you breathe out -Tuberculosis; infectious disease
Heart Disease • Heart disease is a disorder also causing the heart to function in a incorrect way. • Heart disease is also known as cardiovascular disease. • Heart disease affects many people, smokers and non-smokers. It affects smokers because smoking gradually poisons the heart and the heart has to work harder to pump the blood.
Heart Disease (cont.) • List of common heart diseases: -Heart Attack; Blood clotting preventing blood to travel to the heart -High Blood Pressure; high force of blood against the walls of the artery -Coronary Heart Disease; Coronary arteries become damaged or diseased -Heart Rhythm Disorders; irregular heart beating -Heart Murmurs; more noise your blood makes -Heart Failure; heart failing
Conclusion In conclusion, heart and lung disease can affect the circulatory system. If the lung ever fails or the heart the whole system will go corrupt. The blood cells won’t have any oxygen to give to the body. Or the heart will stop pumping blood and then the body parts won’t get the blood full of oxygen. Without the lung or the heart functioning correctly in the body, we would die. So, please take care of your heart and lungs.
