Seventh Month Festivals • Yom T’ruah (Day of Trumpets) • “Behold, I tell you a mystery, we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 • Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) • Chag Sukkot (Feast of Booths)

  4. Chag Sukkot • “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘On the fifteenth of this seventh month is the Feast of Booths for seven days to the LORD. On the first day is a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work of any kind. For seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation and present an offering by fire to the LORD; it is an assembly. You shall do no laborious work. These are the appointed times of the LORD which you shall proclaim as holy convocations, to present offerings by fire to the LORD – burnt offerings and grain (service) offerings, sacrifices and libations, each day’s matter on its own day – besides those of the Sabbaths of the LORD, and besides your gifts, and besides all your votive and freewill offerings which you give to the LORD. On exactly the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the crops of the land, you shall celebrate the feast of the LORD for seven days, with a rest on the first day and a rest on the eighth day.

Chag Sukkot • Now on the first day you shall take for yourselves of the foliage of beautiful trees, palm branches and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days. You shall thus celebrate it as a feast to the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month. You shall live in booths for seven days; all the native-born in Israel shall live in booths, so that your generations may know that I had the sons of Israel live in booths when I brought them out from the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.” Leviticus 23:34-43

What does the Feast of Sukkot mean? • Remembering being in the wilderness • God seeks to dwell in the midst of His people • “Let them construct a sanctuary for me, that I may dwell (tabernacle) among them.”Exodus 25:8 • “You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony which I will give to you. There I will meet with you; and from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony I will speak to you about all that I will give you in commandment for the sons of Israel.” Exodus 25:21-22 • “And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them,”Revelation 21:3

  7. What does the Feast of Sukkot mean? • Did Jesus fulfill Sukkot? • “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt (tabernacled) among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

  8. Let’s look deeper • Zacharias, father of John the Baptizer • “In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a certain priest (a Levite) named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah;and he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron (also a Levite) and her name was Elizabeth.” Luke 1:5

Let’s look deeper • Zacharias, father of John the Baptizer (1 Chronicles 24:1-10) • Now the division of the descendants of Aaron were these: the sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. But Nadab and Abihu died before their father and had no sons. So Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests. And David, with Zadok of the sons of Eleazar and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar; divided them according to their offices for their ministry.

Let’s look deeper • Zacharias, father of John the Baptizer • Since more chief men were found from the descendants of Eleazar than the descendants of Ithamar, they divided them thus: there were sixteen heads of fathers’ households of the descendants Eleazar, and eight of the descendants of Ithamar according to their fathers’ households. Thus they were divided by lot, the one as the other; for they were officers of the sanctuary and officers of God, both from the descendants of Eleazar and the descendants of Ithamar. And Shemaiah, the son of Nethanel the scribe, from the Levites, recorded them in the presence of the king, the princes, Zadok the priest, Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and the heads of the fathers’ households of the priests and of the Levites; one father’s household taken for Eleazar

  11. Let’s look deeper • Zacharias, father of John the Baptizer • and one taken for Ithamar. Now the first lot came out for Jehoiarib, the second for Jedaiah, the third for Harim, the fourth for Seorim, the fifth for Malchijah, the sixth for Mijamin, the seventh for Hakkoz, the eighth for Abijah… (1 Chronicles 24:1-10) • A total of twenty-four division means each division served for two weeks. Abijah’s division being the eighth puts him in the temple around June/July (three months from Passover). • IF Zacharias went home to fulfill Gabriel’s prophetic word and IF Elizabeth became pregnant June/July, then Mary would have been pregant six months later (December/January) and delivered nine months later (September/October) or during the days of Sukkot.

A Vision for our Presentation • Our program is modeled after the “Disney Candlelight Processional and Mass Choir Event” • Twenty-two years of participation • Observed carefully all attributes of success (and failure) • All of the music has been newly produced for our event • New Arrangements • Orchestrations • Narrative • Rehearsal tracks • Compositions

A Vision for our Presentation • Director’s job • Pray • Compose/Arrange/Orchestrate • Produce rehearsal tracks • Rehearse singers/sound/lighting • Congregant’s job • Come to the program • Invite others to come with you to the program • Pray for the production • Pray for audience members to have ears to hear the message being presented

  15. A Vision for our Presentation • Potential: a vehicle of outreach similar to our yearly Passover Seders • Everything is for the purpose of glorifying God and enabling others to come to truth and deliverance.
