  2. Directions Copy down the word and definition on your paperand then create a sentence of your own. Finally, draw an image that helps you remember the meaning of the word.

  3. Chattel Definition: an item of personal, moveable property; slave Sentence:Please don’t order me around Lady Boswell, I am neither your servant nor your CHATTEL.

  4. Austere Definition: stern, as in manner; without excess, unadorned, severely simple and plain Sentence: Jill’s father was AUSTERE, rarely smiled, and was always stern with her about having dates with boys he didn’t know.

  5. Lament Definition: to express sorrow or regret; to mourn Sentence: The song, “Cowboy’s LAMENT”, is a ballad about the lonely life of those who drive cattle for a living.

  6. Aloof Definition: distant, reserved in manner; uninvolved Sentence: Most everyone thought Theodore ALOOF when actually he was only very shy

  7. Cerebral Definition: of or relating to the brain; an intellectual person Sentence: Dr. Clark was too CEREBRAL to be a boy scout leader. Instead of saying “pitch your tents over by the cliff,” he would confuse everyone with his big words and say, “construct the canvas shelters in the proximity of the promontory.”
