  1. Ideas From Popular New Kitchens

  2. Whether you’re looking to bring nature into your kitchen, add some drama through lighting or honor the handmade, these trending kitchens on Houzz have you covered. Here are the 10 most popular kitchens, as measured by the number of people who’ve saved photos of them to their Houzzideabooks from July through September of this year. Tell us in the Comments which space you’d want to fire up the range in. 10. Warm It Up With Wood This Austin, Texas, contemporary kitchen has a polished concrete floor, so architect Don Harris used white oak on the kitchen island and the accent wall, and as slats over the clerestory windows, to add warmth. 9. Age-Old Appeal Though all the materials and furnishings in this Pennsylvania farmhouse kitchen are new, the designer selected weathered-steel stools and a dining table made from reclaimed wood for a lived-in look.

  3. 8. Traditional Charm The lantern-inspired pendant lights from The Urban Electric Co. and the classic beadboard ceiling featured in this Connecticut kitchen provide a timeless appeal and traditional charm. 7. All Good in the Hood The custom range hood covered in the same gray-washed wood used to build the island in this elegant Naples, Florida, kitchen successfully lifts the eye. Of course, the stunning gold chandelier above the island also garners some attention. 6. Handmade Highlight This suburban Chicago kitchen hits a lot of the popular design notes today: subway tile, marble countertop and dual-oven gas range. But the handmade wood shelves with forged iron brackets make the signature statement.

  4. 5. ‘X’ Marks the Spot The contrasting island cabinets painted in Sherwin-Williams’ Bracing Blue make a stylish statement in this New York kitchen. But notice how the metal straps on the pendant lights and the back of the island stools have a similar “X” shape — a design detail that marks the spot. 4. Oversized Impact This sublime kitchen in the historic district of Boston is awash in cream tones. But the dramatic oversized Goodman pendants by Thomas O’Brien above the butcher block island happily steal the show. 3. Bringing In the Green The designer of this kitchen in Manchester, England, included green elements. The painted island cabinets, pendant lights and tiled backsplash behind the range all pull in the verdant flora of the courtyard seen through the floor-to-ceiling atrium windows.

  5. 2. Black-and-White Beauty Stacked wall cabinets and a custom range hood provide a backdrop of white in this New York kitchen, while the ebony stained wood flooring and contemporary stools bring in the black. The countertop, which looks like marble but is actually quartzite, ties the two colors together. 1. Chic Contrast Designer Susan Klimala felt that creating some visual contrast in this nearly all-white kitchen in suburban Chicago was key. “White inset cabinets, quartzite countertops, subway tile and nickel accents provide a traditional feel. The gray island is a needed contrast to the dark wood flooring,” Klimala writes.
