New Ideas Second Seeing Eye
Triggering the Idea • Strange how come ideas come to you aye. Whilst stressing because my original idea was not going to plan, my younger brother said into the camera “I look like such a weirdo”. • An idea hit me and I asked him to look down the camera lens. I thought it looked pretty cool, so captured the image on my iphone. • The words “I look like such a weirdo” were still lingering in my ears which made me question ‘what do people think when they look at me? Do they see me differently to I see myself?’
The Idea • - I want to bring in that question into my video and also re-creating that unique camera scene. • - I think the two went hand in hand as filming a camera, to me, is a perfect metaphor for looking through someone else’s eyes. • - I want to create a piece that represents a wide group of people, to represent how people automatically judge, label, stereotype them. • - My main focus is to show that people may view at us differently to how we see ourselves. Not necessarily in a negative way!
Stereotypes • - Again my main problem is my models. As obviously I would need a large group of different people. However this is not available to me. • - One way around this is if I use two different models, preferably male and female, and to recreate their image to represent different people. • - For example, I could have; Grunge, Goth, Preppy, Punk, Barbie, Tomboy. Etc.
