APPAREL TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT PIN TABLE PRESENTED BY: NEHA SAMDANI PRAJJWAL DEWASKAR M.ftech-3rdsem
INTRODUCTION • Pin Table is mainly used for matching stripes and checks at the time of spreading and cutting in the garment industry. • It is basically a table ,which is having aluminum top and needle bar underneath, for matching stripes and checks fabric.
PROBLEMS • Matching of checks and stripes in the garment production has always been difficult and time consuming.
PROBLEMS • Traditional methods tend to waste a lot of material, since the patterns are cut out with a blocking tolerance. • The task of rearranging the blocked out patterns is tedious and expensive. • The workers involved in this process have to be skilled.
TYPES OF PIN TABLE • There are mainly two types of pin tables – • For woven's • For knits
SOLUTIONS • This PIN TABLE consists of a slotted aluminium top and Needle-Bars underneath. • Each Needle-Bar has pins positioned inside the slots of the table top.
SOLUTIONS • The Needle-Bars can be moved freely along the length of the table. I.e. they can be positioned exactly according to the matching conditions of the marker. • The height of the pins can be adjusted with the turn of a hand-wheel. So the spreading and pinning is convenient, fast and avoids tension in the lay package.
SOLUTIONS • Each pin can be individually locked down, i.e. only the needed quantity of pins have to be used. • Each pin has a rounded top, which avoids damages to the fabric, i.e. with the special pins, we can pin the fabric inside the piece area and produce the quality, where it is needed. • The PIN TABLE is an abstract copy of the marker.
STEPS The NEEDLE-BARS are adjusted according to the marker. The first lay is underlay-paper
The fabric is pinned from the centre to the outside. Each ply is cut with the cutting device at the end
The final lay is fixed with the VEITH NEEDLE-PLATES from above. The fine-cut can be done with a CNC-Cutter or manually by hand.
PIN-TABLE: • Standard table size 170cm x 404 cm • Extra widths 184, 198, 212, 226 and 240 cm available. • Length is adjustable with 2m modules. • Needle diameter is colour coded (1.0, 1.4, 1.8 mm). • Height of needle up to 10cm. • Extra fine needle with 0.6mm available.
OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT • NEEDLE-PLATES • Pin IT Software for the VEITH PIN-TABLE • Pneumatic Cutting-Device (1) • Roll stand or Turn-Table with extra device for underlay paper and polyethylene film • Air-Floatation (2) for easy transport of heavy lays • Additional Needle-Bars • Belt-Drive for automated transport
NEEDLE PLATES • NEEDLE PLATE is a very useful utility, which helps to fix lays including the MARKER or the PATTERN. • Its needles - coming from above - keep the whole lay from distortion of its single ply. • This is especially important for the transport of the lay and for the cutting operation itself.
Maximum depth of penetration of 45 mm. The cutting quality is improved when employing the NEEDLE PLATE, as it stays in the lay during the cutting operation.
PROBLEMS • Matching stripes in knitwear has always been difficult and time consuming. • Knitted fabrics are manufactured in a circular process creating a spiral. Opening the tube leads in the fabric to inclined stripes. • When processing the fabric in a stenter it is often tried to change the inclination of the stripes, but the result will not be constant.
PROBLEMS • Wrong process parameters for the stenter harm the straightness of the stripes. • Traditional methods for matching tend to waste a lot of material, since the patterns have to be cut out with a blocking tolerance.
PROBLEMS • The task of rearranging the blocked out patterns is tedious and expensive. • As knitted fabrics are quite elastic the workers involved in this process have to be skilled.
STEPS Spreading knitted fabric on a PIN-TABLE After spreading, each ply is cut at the end by the CUTTING- DEVICE
Before moving the finished lay to the automatic cutter, it is fixed with help of the NEEDLE-PLATES Cutting a lay on the automatic cutter.
THE RESULT. Manual cutting of the lays isalso possible.
ADVANTAGES • Improve quality. • Spread and match in one step. • Reduce relaying operations. • Have lower fabric consumption. • Do the fine cutting after spreading without relaying. • Prepare lay for CNC-Cutting.
SAVINGS • Savings in labour time between 30% and 50% . • Depending on the product, average material savings are between 3% and 7%. • This results in an average pay-back time of less than one year. • The pay-back time of a CNC-cutter is reduced, because now it is possible to use it for checks and stripes as well.
