Ivan Evacuation Geography • Main Geographic Themes from Post-Ivan Survey • Nearly all Ivan evacuees said they would evacuate again regardless of route, distance traveled, or time-to-destination • Substantial differences in travel times between parishes • Secondary roads are being utilized by evacuees, however most time is spent on major evacuation routes • In some cases, intra-parish evacuation may pose problems • General westward evacuation pattern – away from storm path
