My Mentor and Co-Mentors: • Have expertise (i.e., NIH funding) in clinical and basic science appropriate to my project. • Document and describe relevant grant activity (in dept. and university) • Describe access to outside mentors, advisors, collaborators etc and include letters of support. • Have experience mentoring young investigators. • Document and highlight successes (i.e., # publications with trainees, where are trainees employed, # of publications, # grants)
My Mentors • Have resources to support my lab studies and access to an appropriate patient population. • Describe in convincing detail. • Will guarantee protection of >75% or my time to attend class, seminars and conduct my research. • Letters of support from mentor(s), Div. Chief or Dept. Chair • Will further my professional development by including me in grant and manuscript writing, making scientific presentations and participating in IRB, journal, and grant review activities. • Describe in detail in mentoring plan.
Research Support • You must show: • How you will receive training in the responsible conduct of research. • How you have access to clinical epidemiologists and biostatisticians necessary for valid study design, protocol development and sound statistical analysis. • How you have access to CRAs and CRCs to collect reliable (i.e., GCP) clinical and patient data.
