Who was Satchel Paige? • A great pitcher • played from 1929 to 1958 • he played in both the Negro leagues and the major leagues • During this time it was legal in the United States to prevent a person from doing certain things because of his/her race • During this time African American and white citizens were not treated equal • Read the biography of Satchel Paige to learn how this baseball legend dealt with the problem of racial discrimination
