What is the CESMAT? • Center for Advanced Studies in Mineral Resources • Advanced studies institution for upper management. Staff working in mining industry • Created in 1975 by the French Ministry of Industry • to promote exchanges amongst the various sectors of technical mining expertise • to establish a network of relations with the mineral producing countries all around the world • through training and technical cooperation • Seven 9 months training programs • Profile of the trainees: Mine engineers, geologists, or managers involved in mining industry with several years of professional experience

Specificities of CESMAT programs • Training on basic knowledge AND on more up to date methods: how they do relate together • Training for future experts and future managers, trained together • Exchanges amongst the various sectors of technical mining expertise • Exchanges amongst trainees with very different previous experience • 1975 2013 : 2629 trainees from 114 countries
