Monitoring and Adaptive Management(As I see it…) AOC monitoring has evolved into two categories: • Short Term Monitoring • The minimum monitoring required to allow the delisting of the AOC. (mainly focused on monitoring of habitat projects). • Long Term Monitoring • Post AOC delisting monitoring. Some form of assurance in the final AOC delisting documents that monitoring will occur well into future after delisting. • Not only habitat projects - should also include any other monitoring necessary to assess potential degradation of other beneficial uses.
Short Term MonitoringWhat did Rochester do?RAC decision, Letter to NYSDEC
Long Term MonitoringWhat will Rochester do?We don’t know. Yet. Brainstorming underway. Current Ideas: • Create Endowment. • Constant Funding. • Use Existing Programs.
Long Term MonitoringUse Existing Programs(or those that will exist..) • Monroe County Stormwater Master Plan • Genesee Basin Soil and Water Coalition • RIBS • CSLAP • USGS • GLAA watershed planning • SPDES • 303(d) list / TMDL
