  1. OT dismantlingInstallation workshop 16/17 May 2018 B.Khanji, N.Tuning, A.Pellegrino, R. Walet Work done by Alessandro Saputi Augusto Sciuccati

  2. List - summary • status of documentation • WPP v2.0 Sep 2017 • intereference with other sub-systems • Dismanteling IT same period • SciFi installation after OT dismanteling • who does what • Same team as SciFi installation • handling and tools requirements • Installation tools located and refurbished • status of training • Work at height training needed • storage, disposal • Prevessin bat 947

  3. Overview Bridge + table: keep for SciFi Cable trays + cables + rails: (partly) recycle for SciFi C-frames + detector + FE: no longer use

  4. Strategy Keep detector modules + FE on C-frames Place C-frames in special transport frame Transport frame to Prevessin Unmount modules + FE after SciFi installation

  5. Pit Preparation • Disconnect cables, cooling and gas lines from C-Frame patch panel • Disconnect entire rolling ducts from C-Frame • C-Frame is now “free” Decouple C-frame interfaces from infrastructure Place C-frames on transport frame (for 6-12 frames) • Locate C-Frame insertion/extraction “rail” + beam • Design and Construct Transport & Storage Frame • Move 12 C-Frames to Storage Frame • Locate storage space for 12 C-Frames Store frames above ground (don’t touch them) • Remove Rails (temporary storage) • Remove Table Rails (re-use) • Remove and Store Cable Duct (re-use) • Remove/Leave some cables (re-use) • If extra space needed (e.g. for Novec evacuation) then find it • Preliminary SciFi installation metrology Preparation Work area

  6. Summary • Dismantling OT • We propose to bringC-Frames as a whole to groundfloor • We assume storage facility in Prevessinwillbe ready • Re-use • Per C-Frame: • HV CablesforSiPM bias, LV cables(add 100% more), 2 Cable ducts • Bridge andTableand rails • Space requirements • Storage spaceabovegroundfor frame with 12 C-Frames • Extra (wrt OT) space in situ forSciFi (e.g. Novecevacuation, etc.) • Tooling • Transport & Storage frame design byAlessandro Saputi • We locatedthe old OT insertion/extractionbeam • Safety aspects • Risk inventory and assessment to be dealt with special attention, safetydocumentationneeds to be ready in advance

  7. Lifting beams for C-frames Lifting beams refurbished

  8. Storage building bat 947 in Prevessin • Transport frame • 2800 mm x 4800 mm x 7000 mm • Weight (empty): ~5 ton • Weight (full): ~20 ton • Crane too low to keep transport frame vertical: • Rotating transport frame being considered • 7.90m: surface building point 8 • 8.50m: under the hook of bat 947 in Prevessin

  9. Longer term • Panda spectrometer (GSI) expressed interest for OT • Modules • Electronics? • C-frames?? • Discussions ongoing

  10. Backup • See slides by Augusto Sciuccati 16 May 2018 • https://indico.cern.ch/event/687068/
