Explore the impact of evolving alluvial channels in flood risk assessment. Gestrans project integrates science and public perception to address sediment transit in river basins. Results include peer-reviewed articles, conference presentations, and upcoming events. Join us for collaboration opportunities in scientific discussions and social events. Visit Grenoble in 2012 for oral presentations, field trips, and networking sessions. Stay updated on the project's developments through the dedicated data repertory.

Gestrans Taking into account changing alluvial channels in floodrisk assessment: The consequences of a flood depend not only on the intensity of flows but also on the capacity of the river bed to channel these flows. However the river bed is constantly evolving as a result of sediment transport. Furthermore, the efficiency of scientific arguments for sediment management depends on how they are perceived by the inhabitants. To address this transverse and complex problem, the GESTRANS project brought together geographers, engineers, researchers and sociologists. The project aims to provide an integrated response to the management of sediment transit across the sedimentary basin.
