  5. History; • The Kings National Road and Water Way Administration is founded. 1944 Most Swedish Roads are transferred to the State. 2010 Merge of the Swedish Road Administration and the Swedish Rail Administration

  6. Swedish Road Network • 98,400 km of state roads • 41,000 km of municipal streets and roads • 76,100 km of private roads with state grant • > 200,000 km of private roads without state grant

Swedish Road Management • Periodic and Routine Maintenance million € 1 100 per year. • Investments million € 1 600 per year. • Largest project; Bypass Stockholm; Planned construction period 2013-2020; estimated cost million € 3 300. • Congestion charges in Stockholm. Introduced 2007 after a trial period. The surplus goes to a great extent to the improvement of the public transport system.
