  1. Topic 4: Focus on 6 Specific Skilled Trades SCO 1.10

  2. SCO • Students will be expected to • 1.10 identify the technical courses for each of the selected trades, and identify the purpose of each course [4.401] [4.403]

  3. Why? • The purpose of this outcome is to develop a “big picture” view of 6 selected trades. • Carpentry, • Residential Electrician, • Plumber, • Lather, • Painter-Decorator, • Sheet Metal Worker,

  4. Each trade has a Plan of Training which shows the full list of courses. • Each plan of training has a section that lists the courses and another that gives the contents of each course. • For each course, the purpose is usually written as course aims, usually not more that four statements.

  5. Training plans involve technical, academic, and practical knowledge and skills • Each course offered has a specific focus

  6. Assignment • Complete the following • Make a list of the technical courses for each trade, organized by year • Write the purpose of each course, usually included in the course as course aims • http://www.ed.gov.nl.ca/app/plans.html

  7. Assignment • Make sure that it is well laid out and structured in a word doc. • Ensure that each course is clearly defined, much like how it is structured in the actual training plans online.
