Program Philosophies • Sportsmanship & Fun • Proper perspective – Play your role • Coaches coach • Players play • Referees ref • Fans cheer positively for entire team • Represent our program & communities with pride – players, coaches, parents, leaders • Play hard, cheer for all our teams, win and lose graciously
Program Philosophies • Chanhassen High School Spirit!! • Integration with CNHS Teams • Community Pride • Cheering Section at ALL GAMES • Connect with CNHS Players • CAA players look up to CNHS players • Schedule all CAA teams to attend and support CNHS teams
Program Philosophies • Equal Playing Time is Required and Enforced • Policy: Our goal is for every game, every player should be on the court for as close as possible to the formula of “Total Game Minutes” divided by “Number of Players Available to Play”. In addition, every player deserves to start and finish games as often as their teammates, regardless of the score or opponent. • Coach discretion for attendance, actions, effort, attitude, conduct, end-of-game situations • Coaches - Set your lineup rotations in advance, assign in-game implementation to assistant
Program Philosophies • Equal Playing Time is Required and Enforced • Parents and Players • We expect that CAA Basketball is your player’s primary winter sports priority • Measure playing time over tournaments and longer, not individual games • Address concerns directly, professionally and in private with head coach
Program PhilosophiesEqual Playing Time • Temporarily reduce court time • CAA traveling primary sport (missing practice to play on another team) • Not hustling 100% • Late to practice/not attending • Poor attitude – games & practices, goofs around with teammates/coaches • Respect of players & coaches • Poor sportsmanship to his/her team, opponents, refs • Fouls – game log doesn’t make up time • Injuries – game log doesn’t make up time • Communication between CAA, Parents, Coaches, & Players • Every player will start and finish games as often as their teammates • Kids know plays/understand what is going on • Long term injury – when player returns to team, equal playing time applies
Program PhilosophiesEqual Playing Time Players Responsibilities Respecting your team & coaches, referees Sportsmanship/Attitude Attendance Willingness to learn Effort Parent Responsibilities Commitment Attitude Respect for coaches, players, refs Coaches Expectations Commitment to developing players, following our philosophies Set positive example for team Respect for parents, players, refs Create lineups before game, assign to another, track and report
Program Philosophies Fundamentals + Hard Work + Equal Playing Time + Fun = Success Winning is an outcome… not an objective
