Grant Background For many years the KC CAD Technology Advisory Committee, as well as technology educators of the district, have felt the best way to recruit students into the technologies was by informing their parents, first.A secondary concern of these same groups occurred as a lack of education research is now done relative to technology education. 2011 KEC-KC NGCP Grant
Grant Background When the opportunity to apply for an NGCP Grant was presented, the thought occurred; What if we were to invite local high school girls in with a parent and survey them for their current STEM education attitudes, conduct a brief workshop on community college attendance to learn CAD Technology, and follow that up with a post-survey to determine changes in attitudes? 2011 KEC-KC NGCP Grant
Grant Background The impetus for this grant idea occurred over the last 5 years after CAD program instructors were addressed by parents; One parent said they thought college scholarships were a form of welfare. A second parent confessed that their daughter, who went to the U of I to become an architect, found out she needed a CAD education before attending the U of I. 2011 KEC-KC NGCP Grant
