  2. Annual Report on the Strategic Plan • This is the fourth in a series of four reports on the goals in the strategic plan. • This report focuses on Goal 4: Partner with the Community. • A volunteer team of faculty, staff and administrators produced the 2010 report.

  3. Goal 4: Partner with the Community • Coordinate student needs and College goals with community partners. • Actively respond to community needs and goals.

  4. Objective 4.1 – Community Investment • By 2013, Valencia will emerge as a first-tier investment for the philanthropic community, supporting the missions of the Valencia Foundation and the college.

Objective 4.1 –Community Investment • Review of foundation records will reveal initiated relationships with corporations. • Review of foundation records will reveal increase in significant contributions from 13 to 25 of top largest employers. • Establish baseline data of community perception, measured and compared each year from 2010 to 2013.

  6. Community Investment Initiatives • Examples of initiatives aimed at achieving objective 4.1: • Create a new resource development plan • Partnerships with law enforcement and other community groups • Taste for Learning

  7. Community Investment Data • Net assets of the Foundation in 2010 were $60.7 million (compared to $32.7 million in 2000). • Grants to the college totaled $50 million over the past decade. Funding rates remain high, around 80% annually, which means that time invested pays off. • Private donor giving provides funding for special programs like the Seneff Honors College and the Take Stock in Children program.

  8. Objective 4.2 – Alumni Involvement • By 2013, significantly increase the membership and the active involvement of alumni in giving of their time and resources to support Valencia.

  10. Alumni Involvement Initiatives • Examples of initiatives aimed at achieving objective 4.2: • Increased variety and use of communication tools • 6th annual Valencia Alumni 5K Walk, Run & Roll • Alumni chapter networks • Valencia Homecoming

  11. Alumni Involvement Data • Valencia’s Alumni Association significantly increased membership to over 25,000 in 2010 • The number of alumni involved in activities has increased • Donations to the Foundation from alumni have increased.

Objective 4.3 – Community Engagement • Significantly increase documented college engagement with community organizations and businesses, contributing to meeting community needs and increasing community awareness of the College’s mission and services, authentically raising our profile in the community and leading to Valencia becoming an investment of choice.

Objective 4.3 – Community Engagement • Share powerful stories of Valencia’s service and our people’s impact on the community. • By 2013, a program focused on college-wide support, coordination, delivery, and assessment of Service Learning will be in place. • By 2013, an audit of program advisory boards would yield an increase in membership. Further analysis would confirm the participation and engagement of key industry organizations and individuals as identified by college and faculty leadership.

Community Engagement Initiatives • Examples of initiatives aimed at achieving objective 4.3: • Create a strategic communications plan, increase “story telling,” and enhance Valencia’s brand • Service learning as a means of partnering with the community • Support for Veterans • Peace and Justice Initiative

Community Engagement Data • Transitions Team is reaching higher number of students and parents via events hosted in all high schools. • Stepped up efforts to share the story of the college with community leaders resulted in greater support for the college’s legislative agenda. • The Service Learning committee has established a mission, vision, outcomes and a plan for institutionalizing service learning.

Objective 4.4 – Workforce Development • Increase reported satisfaction by Valencia graduates with their preparedness for upper division studies and the workforce, and increase the numbers of companies and individuals served by Valencia Enterprises, contributing to meeting key workforce needs of the community.

Objective 4.4 – Workforce Development • By 2013, the college will have a method for capturing student satisfaction data, recording the data in a central repository, and summarizing the results for use with internal and external audiences. • By 2013, an evaluation of the number of partnerships developed would reveal an increase of 10% in new client participation.

  18. Workforce Development Initiatives • Examples of initiatives aimed at achieving objective 4.4: • Create an economic development strategic plan • Substantive review of Valencia Enterprises Strategy

Workforce Development Data • Valencia AA transfer GPA performance in the upper division is close to that of UCF native students and graduates’ earnings and placement rates remain at high levels. • Student focus groups and alumni feedback provide feedback on satisfaction, as well as periodic surveys that have been conducted by the Honors Program and on West Campus by Student Affairs. • New baccalaureate programs create opportunities for deans and faculty to reach out to business and industry served by those programs.
