Solicitation • Act of asking or strongly encouraging someone to do something that is illegal • Examples: • Trying to hire someone to kill someone else • Inquiring about a Prostitution • Trying to Bribe a Government Official
Attempt • When someone tries to commit a crime, but is not successful • Examples: • Attempting to kill someone= Attempted Murder • Attempt to burn a building down= Attempted Arson
Conspiracy • Agreement between two or more people to commit a crime, combined with a substantial effort to try and commit that crime • Examples: • Conspiracy to Commit Murder • Conspiracy to Commit Fraud
Issues with Conspiracies • Critics argue it denies people their first amendment rights • Conspiracy to Riot (protestors) • Many State/Federal Laws require an overt act, act that is open to view
