Overview • EMO is Educational Enterprises, Inc. • EAGLE College Prep, South Phoenix (focus school for presentation) • Opened in 2008 with 112 students, K-3 • Grew to 600 in fall 2012, K-7 with 170+ on waiting list • Title 1 School wide Program • 2011 – A rating, 2012 – B rating • 95% attendance rate in 2011-2012 • EAGLE College Prep Harmony, South Phoenix • Opened in 2011 with 127 students, K-2 • Grew to 150 in fall 2012, K-4 • Title 1 Targeted Program • 95% attendance rate in 2011-2012
Recognition: EAGLE College Prep • Accredited through AdvancED in 2012 • Honored as a finalist for Charter School of the Year in 2011from AZ Charter School Assoc. • Honored as “Best School for Diversity”, Phoenix Magazine, August 2010 • Renaissance Learning Model Library 2009-2010, 2010-2011, and 2011-2012
English Language Learners • About 15% of our students are learning English each year • In K-2 we have SEI classrooms (Structured English Immersion) • In 3-8 we have Mainstream ILLP classrooms (Individual Language Learner Plans) • Reclassification rate is consistently above 60%

Academic Greatness • College-prep at an early age sets the groundwork for success in college. • Students spend a significant amount of time studying the core academic areas of reading, language arts, and mathematics. • Other areas of study are integrated into the core areas including science, social studies, and technology. • Aligned to Common Core State Standards • Curriculum maps, pacing calendars, unit plans, unit assessments, lesson plans
Data-driven Instruction • Assessments (NWEA MAP, STAR, ORF) • First 2 weeks of school • Quarterly thereafter • Data-analysis days (August, October, December, March) • Rank order • Create leveled math and reading groupings • RTI (Response to Intervention) • Title 1 Reading • Tutoring in Reading or Math • Target bottom quartile for intervention
Learning Lab • Grades 4-8 at EAGLE use the learning lab as a core component of their education. • While in the learning lab, students will have individualized instruction through CompassLearning Odyssey, Accelerated Reader and Accelerated Math. • Students will also participate in various activities like small group intervention, creating websites, wikis, Prezis, etc.
Character Education • Cultivated in a loving, nurturing, caring environment – Love and Logic approach • Demonstratedand modeled daily by all members of the learning community • Specifically taught by teachers and leaders using Character Counts! along with teacher/leader-created materials • Used in enforcing desired student behavior and school policies (Love & Logic and Character Counts!) • NEST – Nurturing EAGLE Scholar Time • PBIS – Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports • Positive approach to reinforcing good choices
