  2. Weather and Climate • Weather is the short term change in the air for a given place and time. • Climate is a region’s average weather conditions over a long period of time.

  3. Wind and Water • Prevailing winds are winds that blow in the same direction over large areas of Earth. • Ocean currents are large streams of surface seawater. • Fronts are places where 2 air masses of different temperatures or moisture content meet together.

  4. Water and Mountains • Rain shadow affect occurs when moisture in the ocean air falls on the mountainside facing the wind. Little moisture remains to fall on the other side, creating a rain shadow.
